Begin at Fannin & Leeland, downtown Houston
East on Leeland for one block
Left on San Jacinto and go about 12 blocks -
then
.9 Right on Franklin pass under Highway 59 and
then take the
Left fork down into the tunnel, which turns into
Jensen. At the second light, turn
1.8 Right on Navigation.
After crossing RR tracks, turn
3.0 Left on Sampson-York - Youll be on this street for a
while, but note, its a street with a personality problem; first its Sampson and York,
then Hirsch, then Waco, then Altoona, then Broyles,
and then Hirsch again.
12.2 Right on Mount Houston Road.
Go a very short distance, to the next light, and then turn
12.5 Left on Homestead. Reach,
but dont go under, Highway 59; instead, turn a shallow
14.7 Right onto Old Humble Road.
Proceed past Beltway 8. About 3 miles later, at a fork, Old Humble turns
left, but you go
17.8 Straight on Atascocita Road.
(It seems like youre continuing on the same street.) Then
24.5 Right on FM 1960 Humble-E. Huffman Road. Proceed east on 1960. In Dayton, turn
41.6 Right on 321, go one block, under the tracks, and turn
41.7 Left on Highway 90. Follow
90 out of Dayton and into Liberty. In Liberty, turn
48.3 Right on 563 at Chevron in Liberty.
This has usually been the first rest stop.
65.6 Cross I-10. Rest stop
at Chevron. This is the last store for 38 miles.

69.2 Right on 61; go to 4-way stop (Ketone Korner - homage to Bill Coffey),
then

103.4 High Island picnic park (on the right as you ride into town) a good place for
a rest stop
104.8 Right on 87 From here, you will be on the coast road, under several names, for
about 70 miles, to Surfside. (Pray to the
wind gods for mercy.)
132 Bolivar-Galveston ferry - Bikes go to the head of the line
and get on the first available boat, like pedestrians. You can also go to the
front
of the boat as it docks and get off first (sometimes). As you get off the ferry, go to the left to the grassy area by the tourist info building
(with bathrooms).
This is a good spot to finish your lunch (which you probably started on the ferry) and regroup. Some riders may stop
here. Proceeding,
follow the main street (Ferry Road?) away from the ferry terminal.
Right on Seawall
Left at 6th Street - that is, stay on Seawall
Boulevard, which is/turns into 3005. Continue to
158 San Luis Pass Bridge - no toll for bikes, but follow the bridge
person's instructions not to ride your bike over the sensor in the road
surface
Continue on 257 - same road - name change only
174 Right on 332 in Surfside and up over the bridge. After
332, there won't be a store for about 30 miles.
176 Right on 523
182 Right on 227 - Hoskins Mound Road - You may recognize several
of these roads from Tour de Braz.
192 Right on 203 - intersection is unmarked, but straight ahead
is a dirt road

204 Right on 171 - Calhoun Street - in Liverpool
206 Left on 2917, at the T intersection then, just after the RR
tracks

212 At 35, straight across to a little road go north on this road
into Alvin it will become Johnson St. stay on it through Alvin
214.3 Right on Willis straight ahead is a dead end then, after a few blocks, turn
214.7 Left on Business 35 Main St.
Continue north on Bus 35 until it merges with
35 and continue north on 35 into and through Pearland. Then, north of Pearland,
turn
226.1 Left on McHard and shortly
226.6 Right on Mykawa Road. When Mykawa
ends, turn
234.6 Left on Griggs Road. It will seem
like youre turning left on Long Dr, but Long ends and Griggs continues.
235.3 Right on Martin Luther King Blvd then, at the south edge of the University of
Houston Campus, turn
236.6 Left on Wheeler west on Wheeler until it Ts at Tierwester
237.7 Right on Tierwester then, after a couple of blocks
237.8 Left on Cleburne then, after a short distance
239.1 Right on Almeda Road which turns into Crawford then, a couple of blocks past
elevated I45
240.4 Left on Pease then, a few blocks later, cross Fannin and turn
240.8 Right into the parking lot just past the brick building on the corner
